Modesteat is a multimedia project taking back the image of brown bodies in the role of mother and demystifying the act of breastfeeding. The exhibition will take place over two floors of installations in midtown Manhattan.
Modesteat aims to spark the imagination and conversations around the mothering body and its agency.

looks to define the mothering body as a powerful and resilient political tool that stands against the pressures of financial and cultural aggression while challenging the limited representation of mothers of color.
The installation's wholistic sensorial experience will be completed by two original scents created for ModestEAT by Anne Serrano McClain, mother and founder of renowned MCMC Fragrances.
Sandie Luna is an artist, entrepreneur, currently training to be a birth worker. She is Co-Founder of Punto Space, a 2015 Dominicanas in the Mix (DITM) honoree, an award presented by the Dominican American National Foundation. As an Afro-Latina, born in the Dominican Republic, raised in Miami, with deep roots in New York City and having lived in Europe, Sandie is versed in straddling worlds and has moved from a position of awaiting opportunity to creating it for herself and others. She maintains the role of Director of Business Development of PUNTO Space and also continues to be heavily involved in the arts as the co-founder of the Nettles Artists Collective and as a performer, director and producer.
